Holy Temple

Standing tall over decades,
looming over the surrounding countryside,
this is how its always been.
The steps up to the old oak door,
covered by creeping moss.
Mysteriousness and setting tempt in passers by.
Yet once inside the temperature drops,
the stone floor hard on the feet.
The lectern takes the shape of an eagle spreading its wings. It looks like it wants to fly.
Meanwhile the stain glass window shows a historical story,
for christians to look on and cry.
In this holy temple, people stand,
hoping God will come and take their hand.
