Countdown to zero
neurotransmitters firing
nudging the nodding pilot
turbo charged heart, lifting
making a mockery of gravity
light to dark, mark
the journey’s awakening
seeing no god there
but suspended in Almighty arms
spluttered and splintered
like the ice that polices Saturn
were emotions kissing the black void
eclipsed by anonymous suns
rhythms lost,
but steadied by comets’ colours
a kaleidoscope of stars
recording history unimaginable
all connected, nothing missed
abundant collection of perfection.
No visible centre forces egos to
crash
sole satellites of the Self
Mercury, defenceless, blistered
by pot-shots from its heaven
stuck-fast Mars
scarred by past liquids channelling
now dry
birth of a star
super nova delights, such heights
a cocktail of all the elements of man
everything spoke but nothing was said
questions only half-answered
in the stillnesses
wedged between rocks on undiscovered planets
skins peeling, oxygen depleted
hitching a ride home with a meteor
showering through layers of sky
to take a deep breath and wonder.
