Louder than (20th May 2008, 12.56pm)
Louder than silence
Louder than your cold stares
Louder than the weight of your disapproval
I am
Heavy
Fat with shame
Pregnant and proud of it
Louder than jet planes
Louder than football crowds
Louder than the sight of your shouting
I am
Quiet
Swollen with pride
Satisfied with the effect I have
Silence fills in the spaces
Silence completes the conversation
Silence is my best defence against your words
I am
Filled out
Bloated with ignorance
Sated in the face of your horror

A strong poem with defiant words. Directed at who? The parents?
Ironic that you posted in the 'Something for the weekend' set. Done on purpose or fortuitous?

'Something for the Weekend' is my new set where I post work about 'awkward' subjects, if you like. This fit! Who it's directed at is open to the readers' interpretation - it's deliberately open and ambiguous!
