A Never Ending War

No likes yet ♦

from the ABC set THE INNER CONDITION

Psychiatrists, psychologists
Councillors and more,
An endless round of battles
In a never ending war.

Depression pills and sleeping pills
Stomach pills and stuff,
An endless round of remedies
When will they be enough?

Clouded days and troubled nights
Anxiety and stress,
An endless round of hurdles
In a life that can't progress.

Empty cans and coffee cups
Chocolate, crisps and cake,
An endless round of comforts yet
Scant difference they make.

Forward steps, regressive steps
He's down then up then back,
A non-stop rollercoaster
On a never ending track.

Self-reproach and self-dislike
A self that's sometimes lost,
An endless round of self-critiques
Exact a mental cost.

Times for soft surrender
Times for fighting back,
Times when thoughts most asinine
His best form of attack.

Hanging in and holding on
Hoping for surcease,
As most wars this war will end
He'll live at last in peace.

i felt that- & somehow the relentless rhythm of words helps. doesn't miss a beat. "Forward steps, regressive steps / He's down then up then back..."

The personal war inside is harder to help than heal the trauma and of the survivors are all warriors for soldiering on and not giving up, see if hope can get us so far can save us to the happy very ending yet :)
