from the ABC set Pervenio pro somnium

Scene 4- on a street no-one is around. Scar is walking home with books in her hands, Gav is walking and not paying attention, Gav fancies Scar from when he first looks at her.

(Scar is humming touch of mine, Scar and Gav bang into each other)

Gav- oh, I’m sorry.

Scar- yes watch were you're going.

Gav- sorry. hi, I’m Gavin, well Gav

Scar- Scar.

Scar- urrrm i best be getting home.

Gav- well then urrrm I’ll get going too.

(Scar walks off)

Gav- bye, Scar.

(Gav walks off stage)

(Carlas and Carlos walk on stage)

Carlas- excuse me young Lady, what book is that?

Scar- oh it’s urrrm, how to clean your computer.

(Carlos takes the book, then looks at Carlas)

Carlos- They keys to onstage acting!

Carlas- You do know that these books are now illegal.

Scar- No.

Carlos- I think you should come with us.

(They all walk off)

It is me or is it a bit clichéd? It's just, Gav and Scar bang into each other and they suddenly hit it off - this screams cheesy disney film to me.

How about Gav is really apologetic but Scar, worried about her own life, is rather snappish? Then the next time they meet, she feels bad about how she treated him and asks to start over again. That way, the audience has time to comtemplate the fact that the characters may not get along.

Also, if you make their personalities contrast, the only thing they have in common being their love for theatre, then it makes for a much more interesting play.
