George Aligayah

Every day George Aligayah practises
his well rehearsed line.
he looks into the bathroom mirror as he is shaving and says
“the Queen is Dead.”
He rehearses scenarios,
she fell down the stairs
a bullet went through her heart
she was killed in a car crash in Paris.

If the phone goes late at night
he hopes it is his producer
saying “George,
the Queen is Dead.
You’re on.”
