Looking after Jimmy, next door

from the ABC set Families

‘If you two take Jimmy up to the den,
you’re in charge, look after him then.’
Two young girls felt quite assured
– of course little Jimmy would be good!

Soon little Jimmy saw a colourful berry
– drawing his eyes and his fingers, so very
attractive, alluring to pluck and to put
into his mouth, so why ever not?

‘No!’ said the girls, ‘Don’t touch it – LEAVE!’
panicking, frozen, they couldn’t believe
their fussing just tempted that mischievous Jim
to pick that berry and pop it straight in.

Two little girls ran to tell their Dad,
and Jimmy’s father just took his lad,
and gave an emetic drink right away
to make him sick, – there the berry lay.

A poem with a message...a very important one for youngsters, most certainly.

Well said, Rhiannon, and in such a delightful way;-)

Thank you, Tina. A memory come back. Yes, my sister and I learnt something, and hopefully Jimmy did too.
