THE JESUS SMILING

Jesus stood and looked up at the bright shining stars up above in the Heavens. His men were sleeping a short way away in the fields where they had made their bed for the night traveling on to the next town. He thought about all they had done, all those that they had healed, and all the people that they had talked to and who had listened to their good word from God the Father. It was a labor of love and he was well pleased in it. Many people would turn from their sins and follow the true way. Many would harken the call. Many would listen with all of their heart. Still, there was a lot of work to do. There was still a long road ahead to Jerusalem itself. He smiled to himself. Inwardly he was satisfied and at ease. He was truly happy. All was as it should be. “Love your brother as you love yourself.” There was truly no other way for him. God was good. He would live again. He would rise forever in glory. The time was at hand and he and his men had to go forward. His heart was filled with passion and the desire to drink from the waters of eternal life itself. It was a good day for dying. Life and the resurrection of truth awaited them all. God’s blessing and spirit went with them as sure as the wind carried the sparrows on the wing. Love was all there was. Love was the only way. Love and live forever. He sighed with a happy smile and turned away. Soon the time would come when the last hour was at hand. He would go with God. The Lord would not forsake him in this darkest hour. Heaven awaited. The House of the Lord called him home at last. Time and all of existence passed slowly for an hour and then it would all be over and done. He smiled once more to himself. Love had indeed conquered all.
