Dad Said So

Told me how it
was, Second World War
veteran of desperate
times, London

pubs crowded with
the living, then came the
Battle of Britain

bombs, firestorms
and children dying in
all directions.

My dad spent two years in the Battle of Britain. He was with the Canadian Air Force attached to British Intelligence and helped direct bombers against enemy factories. The crisis in England was very disquieting to him and he returned to Canada a changed person. But I am proud of the four years he spent fighting for freedom during the Second World War. RLP
