A Tomato Plan

Tomato for a nice sandwich
We asked noting her half-hearted
Smile cheeks crinkled
With words held at bay
Knowing she was lonely in
The apt on our block
My wife and I stating someone
Had to break the ice and
Welcome our new tenant lady
Sheltering herself from neighbours
And now her standing with
A query on her mind
Brown spots prominent on both arms
Not sure if she should accept or…
Suddenly snatches the prize
And retreats to the confines of
Her apartment cave
Leaving us with a huge smile
To ponder over.
