1st half:
A brave effort
To get this far,
Almost the kings,
Almost the stars.
Closer than you have been before,
You were not quite the best
But you put them to the test,
I’ve been impressed,
And will never forget,
For that day you were giants,
Heroes in my eyes.
Thank you Fulham,
Just wish that you had won.
End of the game:
Unbelievable!!
Can it be true?
We were going out,
Suddenly were winning
Suddenly not bereft.
We believe,
We will win,
Mighty mighty Fulham
The best, the best, the best!

I am not a football fan, but my husband comes from Putney and has been a lifelong supporter of Fulham. The look on his face though when he told me the score was worth a million Christmas Days;-)
Enjoyed your poem, the both of us.
