Spitting Image

I am wearing slippers like yours,
I am wearing them with long, white, thick socks,
The way you wear them.

My feet are the same size as yours,
And so when I look down at my them,
It is you I think of.

I have seen photos,
They are black and white
And are yellowing slightly around the outer edge,
In these photos you are the same age as me,

Everyone says that in these photos,
You look just like me,
A spitting image

But you are not anymore.

Has a poignancy and tenderness that is very touching.
