big nothing haiku

No likes yet ♦

artists battle wasps
for their espresso outside
in the thorn garden

under bright bill-boards
gray men with missing legs beg,
unknown yankee dregs

New Yorkers await
9-11's tenth tense year:
possible fire-works

the Prozac Atlas
holds up a sky of black clouds
as our tears rain down

flame dragon-flies
zoom to devour mosquitoes
from elephant hide

beside Rainbow Road
gold grows on thin stalks of green;
dream-men walk between

one more war winds down,
mammoth shells soaring over
ears new deaf to sound

new ideals proclaimed
brave and luckless souls martyred,
a change of statues

This is extremely well written. The last haiku particularly stuck with me. My Da came from the " Never Forget Pearl Harbor " generation. 9/11 I spose defines ours.

enjoyed this read :)

Love those first two haiku. You've worked really well with a challenging, condensed form - a beautiful poem!

Thank you two for your kind responses. I work hard on my poetry, and it's so nice to have it appreciated. I am honestly somewhat psychologically unstable right now(and that makes me a little miserable,) but good poetry often comes out of it if I work at it. friendly regards, Sean
