Forgive Me

from the ABC set Lurve Ramblings

Have we lost it, where we found it,
though I am unable to say
exactly ‘where’ was…or is?
‘Where’ would seem to
hint at a geographical reference
but no map holds the key.
Where we first met?
Where we first kissed?
Where we first held hands?
Where we first made love?
All good – even solid – ideas
but still constrictive;
limiting [seemingly] the
scope, freedom, scale
or magnitude of the …‘thing’

‘When’ is similarly vague,
for it is not so much a question
of time, as timelessness;
it seemed to have always ‘been’,
as though waking from a dream
and ‘finding’ that…
you have been asleep!
Was it then, a simultaneous
awakening and, if so,
have we but fallen asleep?
I pray so!

I pray, that this nightmare,
filled with betrayal, pain,
tears, fears and loss,
be just that; a nightmare…

I would wake with you again
…and your eyes would open,
without the simmering
doubt, hurt, mistrust, anger
or…hate.
But softly smiling, welcoming,
filled with gentleness, want,
need, happiness, contentment
and…Love.

This is lovely, Chris, and so very poignant.

These lines, I could so identify with:-

"When’ is similarly vague,
for it is not so much a question
of time, as timelessness;
it seemed to have always ‘been’..."

Yes, agree - a rewarding, thought provoking second stanza and a very poignant poem.
