The front panel pane
on my oven
broke
I phoned the landlord
he didn’t get back
I wrote the landlord
he didn’t get back
I ate cold food
and
swept shattered glass
but still
he didn’t get back

a six foot front door arrived
delivered and
abandoned
in the hallway

the door was still there
wooden
wrapped in plastic
six fucking feet
of
inappropriate answers
I pushed my key into the lock
thinking
“if you don’t underestimate me
I won’t underestimate you”
