It’s where you hang
your hat
but
it’s much more than that
It’s where old men
acknowledge you,
- you
along with the inevitable
it’s where you speak the
lingo
where big wooden handles
are handled
- pulled down slowly
to bring big beers
It’s a place suffocated
with your pain
a place
that has breathed new life
into each chapter
of your years
Both it and you
have fought against the tide
and stayed afloat
somehow
You’ve ran from it
a few times
and
it didn’t react
Just shrugged its shoulders and followed
It’s unavoidable
it burns against your skull
it knows you
and
it is you
yes
it’s where you hang your hat
but
it’s much more than that

An excellent poem, in true 'tuh style'.
Identified very much with it.
