Called into the weekly catch up meeting
this doesn’t usually happen
there are six men in the room
all in ties
shirts
and shoes

I sit
and so it begins

“We’ve a snagging list” the ape like chap
said to the room
“…our ATF is switched on but we need to touch base
with the RM and it’s governance model”

a white haired man replies

“That’s true but I’m conscious of timescale what with the BDB’s and the Pipeline Process.
HR won’t be ‘actioning’ the validation report
until the HGVT list comes back from HO”

I do a little fart in my seat

Then the man with the goatee interjects
“Malcom, I understand what you’re saying however
there is nothing viable, all plates are spinning at the same time,
we’ve got access to an expert user
who has been given key strategies to implement
certain ‘B to B’ processes must be abided by”

Ape like chap comes back with
“We need to move resource on this. What about the pilot site for financial integration?
can’t they marshal the documents and get ahead of the game?”

Malcom sighs
I shift
in the grown up leather

Goatee goes again
“I agree, we need to figure out the true frequency effect, work with the DVLA, DSA and communicate with the CMS.
We need to become more switched on,
speak to the ACPO
and come to an agreement on the overall analysis…”

I look toward the window
I see the sky
trapped behind musty glass
and
I start to pray
“don’t leave here abandoned Lord
I know life exists
somewhere
just not within the confines of this conversation”

It finally ends

I head straight outside
push my foot on the pedal
and it spins
wheels turn
and I propel through wind
like a happy dog
with it’s face hanging out of the window
I am free
free at last
