Thunder gods grow older; their lightning bolts grow dim.
My father towered over me; now I’m taller than him.
Now time has turned him from a god into a wizened elf
and I must start believing in the legend of myself.

Now time has turned him from a god into a wizened elf

That is excellent. The best four lines of poetry that I have read in ages.
