Hi, just read some of your stories and these are the ones i think you should concentrate on. At the moment you are making a basic error that all new writers make you are telling rather than showing. Instead of telling the reader that you are not too sad the baby died, show it through the way the character speaks and interacts with her environment. Describe the funeral scene as if you were there. What did you hear, what could you smell, how did the tears of others make you feel. What did you say to your mother and so on. good luck Juliet

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER THREE

"Sophie, why don't you come over here and let me cuddle you?" "No, Mum. I'm not Sophie."

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER FIVE

I watched Mum and the stranger in the doorway of Mum's bedroom. It couldn't be happening, it just couldn't. That girl isn't my sister, and I'm not dead!

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER SIX

"You look like me!" both the figure and I exclaimed at the same time. "That's impossible!" We both said at the same time again.

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER SEVEN

Mum was still screaming when Sophie came running down the stairs. "Mum! What is it? Have you hurt yourself?"

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER EIGHT

"Who?" both Sara and I asked at the same time. "Arbon Blackwood. Oh, of course, you wouldn't have heard of me yet, you've only just now discovered you're dead."

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER NINE

"You can see me?" I asked, knowing it was a stupid thing to ask. "Well, of course I can. That's why I asked who you are. You look like my foster sister who died recently." "Your foster sister?"

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER TEN

"I'm afraid I can't let you do that," the Water Baby said. "Huh? Why?" I felt confused. "You see. You've been through three different Universes already. You might let something slip."

THE WATER BABY CHAPTER ELEVEN

I stared around me. I stared around me at the Barren Universe. I stared around me at the white sheet of Nothing. Surely to God I wasn't the only one here? Surely there had to be someone else here?
