Boringly, I have been published in Red China this month. It's not even a particularly good story...

I enjoyed it very much. Good precise detail and atmosphere. But you muct be more confident in mentioning your work. Modesty is fine - essential, even - but stop short of putting yourself done. Congratulations.

Hello Rokkitnite, have odd feeling I know you in another (uea) life. Nonetheless, thought this story really effective, atmospheric and you had me as soon as you mentioned a cello as a simile. Great. The only thing I'm not certain of is the ending with it raining. I have read so many stories which end with that and I think your story deserves better. Nonetheless, great read. Good pacing. Fabulous.

Thanks for the feedback. You're right of course, Bez, it does come across as irritating self-depreaction when I read it back. I don't mean to sound so blase - I was really thrilled they accepted the piece, but surprised, too. I sent them a different one, they dithered, asked for changes, then eventually rejected it. The rejection email had the customary 'do submit again', and piqued, I immediately sent off a story I happened to have on disk, just to give them more work. They accepted it immediately, which was nice of them. Fergal - yeah, I'm at UEA, in the CWS. Huzzah.
