A Shadow Of His Former Self...
Sadly, on Monday Tony Meehan, the original drummer with the Shadows, and heard on all the early Cliff Richard records, and more importantly, The Shadows best work, died in hospital at the age of 62, after a domestic accident. His death obviously wasn't considered to be of any public interest or import or it would have warranted more than 5 lines on page 12 of my daily rag.
Another bit of rock'n'roll history is now gone.

Thanks for that, Martin. I read it on-line. I've no doubt the music press ie. 'Q', Mojo, NME etc will be reporting it in detail.

They stated that he did Scarlett o'Hara - but I saw no mention of Telstar. Wasn't that one of his?

Telstar was written by Joe Meek and recorded by The Tornados who were Clem Cattini on drums, Heinz Burt on bass, Alan Caddy and George Bellamy on guitars. I think the keyboards were added later by Meek himself.
Tony Meehan's passing was mentioned yesterday on the Ken Bruce show on Radio 2.

It was Geoff Goddard that played the keyboard part on Telstar. The instrument used was a Clavioline, a much under-used instrument.

Jet Harris is a legend. The first man in the UK to play electric bass guitar, Jet Harris toured with his band, The Shadows, in the heyday of rock‘n’roll. Now he’s back with his brand-new show Me and My Shadows, featuring The Rapiers – the Retro Shadows - influenced by the man himself. A mixture of Shadows songs and the solo hits, the show’s ultimate surprise is that after 35 years, Jet is back on stage with Miss Billie Davis, known for smash hits such as Tell Him and Angel of the Morning. Featured along with Billie will be The Songbirds, Ri and Kirsty, and of course Cliff Hall on keyboards, another of the original Shadows!

I think you'll find that Cliff Hall wasn't one of The Shadows, Ralph.
There's at least one obvious mistake I saw immediately on that site of Jet Harris' .
'Apart from Jet, the only other person to have recorded a live performance in a prison was Johnny Cash'
This is definitely incorrect, unless the video I have of David Alan Coe performing in a Tennessee State Penitentiary back in 1975 is a fake. The wardens armed with pump action shotguns look pretty convincing to me!
