ABCtales evening

It's on Feb the 2nd at Extra Time - nearest tube is Barbican and it's dead easy to get there. Do come along and bring all your mates!

If you want to read then email me asap.

So who's coming?

What day of the week is it?

That counts us out then Pesky.
Unless we win the lottery before then and hire a private jet or helicopter of course!

Well I'll be there, although admittedly there's not much excuse not to be - I work near Kings Cross. Enzo.. www.thedevilbetweenus.com
...having it on a weekday night does restrict it to "Londoners" I know some people from the third world "up north" and stuff (that's anywhere north of Watford to me have made the trip but its a bit much to ask... but I assume suitable venues at suitable prices are prohibitive at weekends?

I'd definitely try to get down again BUT I'm away on holiday until the 2nd Feb! Sorry!
Does anybody have the link to the april last year event?

Bugger. I can't come. That's the night I open my new comedy club at the Millfield with Boothbie Graffoe. I was going to do a ticket offer for ABC people and all. Bugger again, www.millfieldtheatre.co.uk

We had the last one on a Friday and got a poor turnout - and lost our deposit. Midweek we don't need to put down a deposit or guarantee a bar take so it all works out OK. I accept that Thursday does restrict the audience to Londoners and those around the area and we would love to do more in other areas of the country - if someone wants to start the ball rolling then we will support them as much as we can.
ah rubbish. I can't come either. Too far for a work night. What a baby. Norwich does this to you! If only for it to be on a weekend. Span
Hate to jump on the weekend bandwagon, but Friday or Saturday would be more my cup of tea. Oh well - better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. Anyone got any alternative venue suggestions?
Need a scatter graph of where the ABCTalers live and then a big pin to stick in the middle.
Fish's shed?
You could do it at the Millfield. I'll give you the room for free, we have loads. And we can do a box office split. You cannot lose. We will do all the web stuff and marketing as well. We have partnerships here who are very much into this kind of thing including the Arts Council. We are a mix urban and Georgan. Have a look at the website and especially the beautiful house. We could go flat floor caberet style. Very intimate etc. Come on. Let's do it. Ralphie www.millfieldtheatre.co.uk

The Millfield thing sounds spot-on. Literary cabaret, dosh for the site... but I guess it still doesn't solve poor old out-of-towners and their midweek blues!
We could do it on a Saturday, no problem. It would be great in the house in the spring or early summer. We could twin it with a b-b-q etc. We are easy to get to by bus, car or train. x

Thankyou ralph for the offer - we'll have a look.
I probably can't make it - weep - cash flow and week day mixture... but we'll have to see because I would love to go.
Ralph's offer sounds great and on a Saturday too. Would certainly make it easier for us yellowbellies to attend!
So who's coming on the 2nd? Anyone?
If Dave's not away, I'll be able to make it. Will know in a day or two.
I would very much love to, but unfortunately, as it as moment, cannot. Purely a money thing, i.e. I dont' have any, and have been living on the same £15 since before Christmas.
I intend to go, but I will be late.

Would love to go but cannoot. Sulk. Span
Still got some space for readers if anyone wants to do it - don't be shy - we're very supportive! Just email me!
I think you should re-phrase your question, Tony. I'm still in Nashville and won't be home until Saturday morning but if I've recovered from jet-lag enough I'll make the effort.

Would love to come to put faces to names but sadly, distance and money . . .say no.(cough)
That'll be 5 then. Sorry, I'd love to come but to afford it, I'd have to do a fergal and leave before the end to catch the train. I can't do that. I like the sound of Ralph's gaff. I can drive there and get a cheap hotel - probably one in which the bar stays open... after my visit to Extra Time it all broke up pretty quickly. I sauntered the mile back to my hotel thinking, 'should've left early, caught the train ... never mind, bar will be open ... a couple of snifters and one for bed, ta very much.' The bar was shut! FFS, I've stayed in £40 hotels in Bradford which keep the bar open until 1am. Even worse, Hitchhaiku phones me to see how it went. He's at home, analysing a bottle of something strong; I'm away, analysing hotel tapwater. There is no minibar. There is room service: £20 for a bottle of house wine; £3 for a bottle of Bud. No, thank you. Hitch and i talked for an hour, me excusing myself several times due to excessive intake of hotel tapwater. In the morning, I had to endure the joy of rail travel; underground and overground, wombleing free; and the sweatyness of the taxi home - "Lunden, yeeah, wuz there last mumf to see that freddi mercial whassit queen fing.' I bet that was good, 'Nah, me sis, Bev, puked juss before da interval, like, an it all wen orf from dere.' So, yes, I can't wait to get back. Not.

Despite stormy's sad tale of life in the big city I can now reveal some of our performers. They will be: T. Imaan Trechicovmanicova Maddan Barely Black Francis Milkstone Yutka. Not bad for starters, eh?
We've got lots of members in Sweden - so you probably aren't!
And no, it won't be filmed! Make up is not required!
*And no, it won't be filmed! Make up is not required!* Damn, was looking forward to having a good laugh at BBF's Pete Burn's impression.
Yes...although I must warn you he has several new words and sayings this week, including HELP, HELP, MUM, HELP...(shouted at earsplitting levels) Get off me yer div Spaghetti legs Tin ribs The buzzer sound from catchphrase..(usually repeated at least 10 times in a row) Innnn 1...Innnn2....Innnn3...etc, Lets look at bullys starprize Look what you would have won...(guess which fool bought her husband the bulls eye game for christmas)
My grandmother had a parrot called Charlie. He was grey and bit me whenever I went near him. She was a very strict Victorian lady - but boy, did she love that bird. Whilst she was ill and in her dotage Charlie was taken care of in the local pub. He became an alcoholic (like her) but he also learnt a whole heap of swear words. She recovered, he came home - she sent him back. He died. She died. Ho Hum. It was all a long time ago.
i shall wave to you leftboy as i pass through aberdeen (twice) ... sorry i shan't make the do ... BBF and a parrot sound too good to miss ...

T. Imaan Trechicovmanicova Maddan Barely Black Francis Milkstone Yutka Wow, much better line-up than I'd anticipated; very much looking forward to seeing those. Enzo.. www.thedevilbetweenus.com
Also now confirmed are: fergal marcus Now that's a seriously good line-up. Be there if you possibly can!
Yep - I'm really looking forward to it. Am selling some books to a second hand shop to buy my train ticket. It's worth it though, because I always have a good time, enjoy hearing people read, and meeting up with people. hurrah.
Yeah, let's... but if it pecks me you're for it.
Ferg should be ok...my Archie likes women (not keen on men though as husband can confirm.) No point in trying to sue me either am totally skint, especially as local council have decided that student loan is an income of £60 per week, even though it has to be paid back and it costs me almost that much to get to uni each week (jobworthy bastards!) am in process of teaching parrot to answer a knock at the door with...'If I owe you money f**k off!'
You could teach it to answer the door with a viscious peck at the frontal lobe...
I should be there

good luck..i wont be there, i wish i was going....

stephen

I might do an open mic slot for a reflection on brain damage. A worn out subject but I'll lay it to rest afters...

That would be wonderful - if you feel up to it! Come one, come all - it's important that we get a good crowd along this time so please, if you are thinking of coming and can't quite make up your mind - decide that you are coming! Cheers, Tony
Looking forward to it a lot. Who else is going? A reminder would be cool.
I still hope to come but have a nasty stomach virus so we'll see... that'll teach me to go kissing boys

I can't make it, I'm afraid. D's away and long stint babysitters, midweek are a non-starter. I'll be thinking of yooz.

If anyone is going out for a beer or two earlier, email me and let me know - I'll probably join you. The alternative is working late (which from my workload right now may not be optional anyway). Lou - It's a real shame you can't make it, I was looking forward to meeting you... Enzo.. www.thedevilbetweenus.com
We'll be there from about 6.30 Ben so come and join us if you feel like it! Cheers, Tony
