I was hoping bto get down to my favourite city last month, but ran out of time. Maybe in April. I envy you living there.

It seems I picked a good week - Philly got nearly 15 inches of snow yesterday! No snow down here...EVER! (only hurricanes) Last night caught some live jazz, today a parade - it's Mardi Gras time!

Living there might not be such a pleasant proposition nowadays. My cousin and her husband are still officially homeless, having just moved for the ninth time since kartina hit. They made it out with one automobile full of clothes etc. The house is evidently a total loss, and this was in a rather well-to-do area. As she points out, one of the big problems is that the hardest hit areas were where all the people who do the actual work lived. So now, if you want to buy groceries, or anything, you must get to the store by 11am or everything is gone. There aren;t enough people to make and accept deliveries and stock stuff on the shelves. That was a few weeks ago, maybe it's better now. And I'm sure first priority is being given to the tourist areas. And now we are finding out that the hack in charge of FEMA might not have been quite the idiot he was portrayed. His bosses and the White House simply igorned what he told them and lied about it afterwards. I guess that should not come as a surprise.

I need to visit that place one day! My family was going to go there one summer, I think, but that never materialized. I may move to Seattle in a year, so I'd better do it quick!
