the bracket question

Only just noticed the thread about this - too late to add to it.

As I understand it, a full stop is included inside a bracket only if the entire sentence is bracketed. (If the sentence begins outside the brackets then the full stop is placed outside.) That may explain why you sometimes see full stops in both positions (if it's still of interest).

The above may be wrong but it's what I've been doing for years - I must have heard it from somewhere.
