Standing up to a bully

I'v just done it on the Guardian Comment Strands. The man who called me a whore last week has just been insulting me again. This time I reported the comment and said I will do so whenever he is rude.Phew ! It is just on the computer but it all feels quite scary and threatening.I had to log in to abc for a gentler and more thoughtful milieu. Anyone else stand up to a bully lately?

ABC has its fair share of forum-thuggery too. I'm not naming anyone, though, in case they turn on me!
Fortunately not much of late - things have been very peaceful and I intend to keep them that way!
fair play - i was bullied at school, and i want stand for it now - on-line or off-line - to my shame i left a job about 5 years ago, rather than stand up to bullying management - they weren't bullying me, but that isn't the point really - i said a bit but should have said more
I almost got a red card for cussing out my fellow soccor teammate killian. (i'm also manager on team) got tired of him complaining about why he's taken out (a kid didn't get a card so he elbowed him in the back of the head mid-game) and then I have to listen to his racist comments about mexicans on the other team (hey, it is soccor). Killians a good guy but soccor makes him nuts. And so I just got really mad and cursed right as the ref came by. but hey, it was worth it. not really a bully but its a stand up. been bullied before. not too fond of it. that's why I moved to Prosper. the countryside is great.

Give me the beat boys and free my soul! I wanna getta lost in ya rock n' roll and drift away. Drift away...

Mike - we know you Yanks know-a a nothing abut football but even in your terms it's spelt 'soccer'. As for team-mates hitting each other - two Arsenal players (Adebayor and Bendtner) squared up to each other as they were getting beaten 5-1 by the mighty Spurs (who hadn't beaten them since 1999!) and Bendtner ended up nutting his comrade on the schnozz (headbutting his colleague on the nose). Neither got a card but both should be banned for life - but I guess that's true of anyone who plays for Arsenal. Hang on - here come the gooners (Arsenal 'fans'), who only seem to love their team when they're winning.

I'd like to point out the irony of spelling a word as simple as 'about' wrong when criticising someone else's spelling. Oh, and of course the irony of that whole first sentence in a thread about belittling others online.
