Why are we here? An accidental quirk of nature. Our brains are too large. That is the real 'miracle'. We invent gods as we go along because we cannot accdpt the truth - we are on our own.

Maybe Gods are actually an Alien race that have been visiting us since ancient times, The greeks often talked of gods coming down and falling in love with mortals, Maybe these unities gave birth to somewhat more talented people, after all in symposeum socrates is described as god like. C A Jones Isn't it because our brains are so active that we take drugs like alcohol, coffee, nicotine, marijuana? Perhaps we should cut out the stimulants. After all its our over-activity that is killing the planet. Its not just the 'animals' who are losing their habitat.
