Word of the day
So I don't know if I'm massively behind the times on this but I signed up to dictionary.com's word of the day mailing list last week and have already had some gems. 'Beek' for instance:
1. To bask or warm in the sunshine or before a fire.
2. (Of wood) to season by exposure to heat.
Or 'couchant':
1. Lying down; crouching; reclining.
2. Heraldry . (Of an animal) represented as lying on its stomach with its hind legs and forelegs pointed forward.
So for what it's worth i reckon it's worth signing up. it's more environmentally friendly than bog roll for one!
I didn't know about this either, so thanks for pointing the way. I got all excited when I saw they do a daily crossword, and then all frustrated when my computer at work says no because it's classified as 'games'. But it'll let me play Hangman on the Oxford Dictionary site...
Not that I don't have a life...or a worthwhile and fulfilling job... :(
Thanks for your innovative idea. I got on to it straight away. Good idea for us foreigners to improve our english ;) I just clikcked on the google ad !!
