REALWRITERS/bookpl@ce short story competition

Hi Emily, tell me, does having a piece of work on ABCtales count as 'published' when competitions ask for 'previously unpublished work,' whether short story or poem?

em ... there doesn't seem to be any closing date shown on the comp details ... have i just missed seeing it ...?

Dear Simon, Having a piece of work on ABCtales doesn't count as published for this competition - with other competitions, check the terms and conditions but generally, I'd imagine they are talking about paid publication. If, however, your work has been selected for paid publication in ABCtales offline magazine, then it would count as published. Re: closing date - I couldn't find one either! I've contacted the competition organiser and asked her to respond. I think it's in November but I'm not 100% sure! However, I do know that more people tend to enter towards the end of the competition, so the sooner you enter, the more likely you are to get your piece selected for ABCtales magazine (NB: this won't disqualify you from being eligible to enter the competition as your work is published as part of the competition) Kind regards Emily
