Stopping my posts for a while.

It has nothing to do with no cherries or comments. I'm also a member of another writers site where my fan base is a little higher, and they don't expect reviews in return. It's encouraged. However, not as important as it seems on here. We're always improving when it comes to writing. I just think some people are expecting perfection when that's not possible.

I wish I had a 'fan base' but my ego won't allow it. Terry

Terry, sack your ego, sing Delilah and let me throw my knickers at you. Bryan, I would like you to continue posting, I'm disappointed that you're not going to, never had you down as a quitter.

You haven't even known me long enough to know who I am or how I might react. No one has quit. They have just decided that his kind of fiction is not acceptible by this site. If I wrote my Grindhouse style fiction the way it was intended. It would never be rated PG, and it might even be offensive or considered disgusting. That's Grindhouse. Ever see the film 'Machete' or 'Planet Terror?' That is what I like to write.
Geezus Bryan, I've been watching this unfold over the last week or so with you moaning daily about this site. No one expects perfection, but you don't get cherries and comments and scantily clad women feeding you grapes and fanning you with palm leaves just by demanding it. That much has been established, but here you are a couple of hours later being all over dramatic again. You don't need to stop posting, you just need to be patient. Stay on ABC, be patient (I'm talking weeks, not just a few more hours), enjoy others, get into it. Then you will get something out of it, I promise. Whaddya reckon?
I can assure you, no one is looking for perfection! Otherwise, I would be the most unread writer on this site. abcTales is about growing as a writer, contributing in a community and simply enjoying a shared ability to tell stories, write poems and express ourselves in a wonderfully creative way. For me, this site is cut much closer to reality than other writing sites because you DO have to be patient, you DO have to put in the work and in the end it WILL pay off - just like any writer has to do when looking to be recognised and appreciated. It's 100x more fulfilling than any other site I have used because when you get an encouraging comment, a cherry or even an 'enjoyed the read', you know for sure that you have done something right. It is exactly for that reason that I carry on here at abcTales - I trust that it will help me become a better writer, even when weeks pass without a comment, or my favourite piece doesn't get cherry-picked. I am so very, very far from perfection, but I know that, with the right frame-of-mind, this site will help start to bridge that astronomical gap. All the best, Steve.
ItsSteveDave you get .. scantily clad women feeding you grapes along with those cherries? oh!

Ha Ha Ha ...Sooz I wonder what you do with them once they're thrown at you? (could write a story i s'pose....) My My My Delilah..... regards Terry

Ahh shame.....

Zalgradis, unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of scantily-clad grape feeding sessions, and with the weather this Summer I've had to let my chief palm leaf waver go - there's just no market for cool air in this country!
Oh sorry to hear that! *S* - now i know why those cherries are in high demand. I can almost feel a story coming on about Colin the chief palm waver and how he was made redundant in light of the cherry drought.

Go for it Zalgradis, sounds like a cherry-worthy story! I'd at least leave you a comment! ;) Although in my head I'd had my chief palm waver as a woman. I think a man standing around in little toga pants while I'm sprawled out on the chaise longue might put me off my grapes...
"They have just decided that his kind of fiction is not acceptible by this site." Can you tell me who 'They' are and point me to a comment that says your kind of fiction is not acceptable on this site. Also PG is not the only rating you can give a story here. The way the sentence I've copied above is constructed ie: "his kind of fiction", is it Bryan Skylar writing or one of his "fan base" using his name? Terry

There is no need to be a smart ass, or the use of sarcasim, my friend. Members here act like they know who I am and my writing. My name isn't even really Bryan Skylar. That is my pen name. No one will miss my writing. It doesn't take an ego to have a fan base. I do have over 40 fans on the other writing site.
It's all about freedom of expression, Bryan, write whatever you want. As far as I'm aware, as long as you age rate it appropriately, no one will have a problem. i.e. I'm sure no one would mind if your character had his sternum ripped out through his anus, as long as it progressed the story.
Damn, knew it, you're Stephen King aren't you!
I've no worries of ever getting a novel published. So, the literary world can breath a sigh of relief. Can we end this thread as well. Maybe I'll continue to post and maybe not. I have no beef with any of you, just thought you all should know.
Oh my god, there's a rating specifically called CERTIFICATE 18. I use it in SEVERAL stories because some of my works contain STRONG VIOLENCE. And guess what, they've got cherries, reviews, and criticism all the same. No one ever even mentioned the violence aspect. Your pieces never even had violence, where are you even getting this?

Give me the beat boys and free my soul! I wanna getta lost in ya rock n' roll and drift away. Drift away...
