sitcoms: How much to send off?
I'm co-writing a five episode sitcom at the moment. I reckon the market is BBC2 and would be popularised by word of mouth (difficult, I know, in these multiple channel times). I was thinking of sending two episodes and a synopsis but I don't want to be ripped off. By that I mean I don't want them to apply the formula and give it to a different writing team. This is at least in part because I have a really good idea (this self praise being no praise) for a twist at the end that will pose more questions than it answers. How can I tantalise the talent scouts without giving too much away?
Think the standard is one episode and synop.
Good luck.
Okay, I'll try that with the bee first. Thank you Andrea.
Have you looked at BBC Writer's Room? That has loads of info. http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom
I have a copy of the guidelines from their new writing initiative. I'm in the process of correcting my episode and polishing it ready for sending. The main thing is trying not to give too much away to them. I've really enjoyed writing it though.
Surely you can copyright?
Hopefully the BBC as an honouable institution would
help you with this.........
