Children's stories

I'm going to send my children's story off to some publishers and see what happens. Can anyone recommend a good place to start? I imagine it as a kids book with illustrations on every page - a picture book if you like.

Any tips for would be children's story submitters?!

My story is called The Girl Who Got Bigger And Bigger and can be found at:

It's fable really.

I'd be glad of any advice.....

Have you tried the children's dept of your local library? See what books look like the sort of thing you have in mind, note the publishers and check them out in Writers & Artists Yearbook or the Writers Handbook. Good luck!

Thanks chaps! Is it ever worth approaching publishers online or via email?

Try sending the illustrations with it if you can. Best to get a good stylised block colour, easily recognisable branding thing going if possible

I'm looking for an illustrator. My drawing talents involve stick men and doodles...could start a new trend...? :o)

Matt are you still looking for an illustrator? I haven't done children's book illustrations before but I am a trained illustrator, and have done a bit of work through design agencies. Would be happy to mock up a couple of illustrations if you'd like to see how the style goes with your text. Email me if you're interested... jalexander@ecosse.net
