Smoking Thread

After the vote in Parliament earlier this week there won't be many places where you can have a fag in comfort, so I'm establishing one here.

Log in, chill out, light up.

*sits inside on his own whilst everyone else goes out for a fag* stupid bloody law

our very own smoking room - yippeee though having said that i agree with the law - with 2 almost teenagers, i would much prefer they found it difficult. I hate going out anyway - bit of a recluse :) Juliet

Ah but Juliet, how much more difficult is it going to be to stay inside when all the cool people have gone out for a smoke.

Yah, even smokers might enjoy being able to go to the pub and not come out stinking of old fags. While non-smokers can, of course, come here to continue their conversations with smokers.

i don't mind smokers, but i sometimes mind smoke. i like the law - nyc has it and philly's thinking about it. and i'm not so cool, anyway...
mrs_t has already passed a non-smoking law in our place, so i'm already outside... i'll miss it when it gets banned in pubs, but in a few years we'll all think it's the norm not to smoke in pubs 20 years ago, you could smoke in the office, on all trains and tubes, and on the buses...
There wee some great comments on the ban on the News Quiz, Radio 4 this week. Alan Coren suggested that in 20 years time the world will be full of geriatrics who should have died from cancer, all stuck to the floor by the tons of chewing gum consumed instead of cigarettes.
There wee? There were.
I don't go into bars so much any more and I don't mind going outside a restaurant and I really should give up so my neurologists say. The law never bothered me in California when I was a fixture in bars with a drink and a fag but then you don't mind going out into the sunshine for a smoke but this bloody weather!

Totally for it! Extend it to bus stops & train stations, I say... & the flat above ours! (not terribly pleasant having ash drift down onto our "balcony") :-) * P * :-)

The All New Pepsoid the Second!

In enclosed spaces like elevators and tiny coffee shops, maybe no smoking is right, but can anyone tell me why Liverpool Street Station with its huge airy vaulted chambers should be no-smoking? I expect Scotland will have a tough time of it. Consider what would happen if a group of hardened oil workers light up in a no-smoking pub... Over here, assume everywhere is nosmoking unless ashtrays are laid out.

They couldn't pass that law fast enough as far as I'm concerned. Vile, disgusting, smelly, bad-for-everyone habit. I mean, people die in housefires of 'smoke inhalation'. Hello? Is there a difference? *cough cough* *peers through smoky haze to discern whether anyone's still on the smoking thread*
Still here. Just got 20 Rothmans from a Beagle who's decided to quit.
