The not-exactly-immaculate conception

I watched the premier of this in Leicester square yesterday. It was watchable and I did enjoy it but it lacked the believability of Franco Zeffirelli's version. There is absolutely no way any star/stars aligned/ comet or indeed any phenomenem of astronomy could have produced a beam of light that focussed.
The best thing in the film were the three astrologers, but this is understandable, they came from Persia.
I won't say too much as I don't want to spoil the ending but I'll give you a clue - it happens in a stable in Bethlehem.
Oh and semi-opaque angels in nighties are so '1970s cinematics'.
So they're still trying to pass off that whole immaculate conception thing as a fact? It sounds nice when added to the Jesus myth; but I have real trouble accepting that sweet mother Mary got pregnant via stardust or Gabriel trumpeting from the roof of their house. Why is it so impossible to accept that Mary was a normal (young) woman who got pregnant in the normal way and then gave birth to the Messiah?
That's the trouble with Judea today. Single mothers going to the top of the stable waiting list, Social Workers coming round with free perfume and cash handouts, farm workers hallucinating about seeing aliens when they should be watching their flocks - the whole bloody province is going to the dogs.
I blame the Emporer.
You have missed my point entirely, Mr. Yelland-Brown. Let ye who is without sin cast the first stone.
Mark!! Welcome back!! Pagans flee, MYB's on your case!
