May I just say I thought this was super?
In the spirit of encouraging a culture of constructive criticism, the only thing I can say is that I'm not sure I 'got' this line: 'their clacking tongues whipped up words you needed to live, not just speak.' But frankly, I'm nit-picking. A really enjoyable piece. What does everyone else think?

I love it. It gives a real sense of place. The co-incidence of food and incident is clever - it's as if the sight, smell and taste of the food brings back the power cut or the balcony collapse. Hellen has just got better and better over the past year or so and this is another example of how she is really beginning to exploit her talent.
