York night - There are still some vacancies.

So come on you Northerners if we're to get a night up here on a regular basis then we need to support this one to the hilt! There's a lot of good writers hiding up in them there hills and they need flushing out!

new Stan wishing you all the best in your move! Don't dread it. Things will change, work out for the best, keep writing great stories. julie x AbcTales.
I'll do something Moya, but I'm not resident there. Will take the Friday off work. Any suggestions for what to read? Will bring copies of my book in case there are any wobbly tables.

Parson Thru

Parson Thru, I'm not the organizer just someone desperate for it to take place. You read whatever you like but reading from your book sounds good to me.

Please make it a regular thing! If it had been pretty much any other Friday night I would have been there like a shot and I would bring my one Northern writing friend too. Hope it goes well.
Alex, I know you were desperate for the York evening to take place like me and Sooz. I'm just hoping it still goes ahead. I just can't believe there are so few Northern writers putting themselves forward for what should be a great night.

i'd love to come but it's too far for me .. :) have a good night!

maisie angel Guess what?  I'm still alive!

Appen you're reet Parson Thru! I've given up whippet race and ferrets have been boarded with t'neighbours and pigeon loft is all but empty apart from t'kids! So think on Northerners... appen York night needs yer!

My passport's out of date, I don't own a whippet and I dont have a pet falcon. Oh and i'm on holiday.

I'll not ave it jolono. Not as long as there's a shuvvel in t yard.

Parson Thru

And muck t'shuvvel. Appen!

I'm a seriotype, I live up North and (although I have none) at the moment, I have had wippets, falcons and ferrets, though I admit the wippet was when I was a child.

I agree, if we don't get more people, then it's going to be a pretty poor night.

I'll be thar! Even though I'm not originally from this fair isle. And Tony's emailed me asking if'n I'll do a reading n'all. I'm a shy critter, mostly, but I said yes. God help you all!
Hello pjmerrigan, I think you are Sooz friend Peej and I am so glad you too are coming to the York night as the more the merrier. Like you I too am a shy critter but hey what the heck I will if you will, so will I... Looking forward to meeting you and Sooz Moya

Hi Moya, yes, I'm one and the same (for my sins!). Sooz will make her way to mine that afternoon and we'll head over together. Look forward to meeting you all. PJ ('Peej')
Hi everyone, I'll be reading at the York evening - but I've never been to an ABC event before, can anyone tell me what time you usually wrap up so I can book my train home accordingly? Thank you! Magic x P.S. Very excited!

Hello Magic, So glad you are coming to York evening and that you are reading. Like you I am so excited because it will be my first too. Unfortunately that means I can't help you with details of what time things finish but Sooz will probably know. Looking forward to meeting you. MOya

Hiya Magic, really glad you're coming. I'm sorry, love, I can't give you an exact time, either. I only know that I've always been so disappointed that it all wraps up so early. I want it to go on until the early hours and that we'll all end up skipping around the pool table in our long-johns (I know, shamelessly plagiarised) I would email Tony directly. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say ten o'clock but get it from the horse's mouth. And we still need more people. Come on Northeners, if we don't support this, there's hardly likely to be another one.

I'll certainly not be skipping around a pool table in anyone's long johns! There'll be no 'wee hours', Sooz, if I'm driving us back to Leeds that evening! :p But as to Magic's question, I suppose the best thing would be to book the train you want, and leave when you can. There'll likely always be someone there till kicking-out time (although this'll be my first ABC do, too!), so if you book a train for 11pm, you probably won't be sitting there on your own for an hour beforehand! If there's anyone from Leeds who's going and would like a lift there and back (just gimme a few quid for fuel), I can probably squeeze two peeps in the back of my dinky toy car. Let me know.
Or indeed from Manchester, I'm going from Manc to Leeds and Peej is doing Leeds York. I'm going anyway so won't need fuel money, but you may have to push if I break down. I also have my own gaffa tape to fasten down anything that falls off en-route.

Thanks guys, I've booked my tickets accordingly! Does anyone know how close the venue is to the train station? Will I be able to walk there easily? Magic x
