If ever there was justification for the licence fee then this is it.
The BBCs new wildlife series is truly beautiful. Every frame could be framed and there isn't a single shot that doesn't deserve the title 'once in a lifetime'.
This is the BBC at its best and there's nobody in the world who can come close.
This first episode of a TV series could have taken more than one oscar last night- it was just astounding. I can't praise it highly enough.
The aerial photography of the dog hunt was breath taking, the sharks coming out of the water was amazing, the monkeys walking through the flooded plains made me wet myself with laughter and the lost elephant in the dust storms made me cry as the camera pulled away and we were told that he had finally found his mother's trail but was following it the wrong way, and we see the dry vastness that the herd has just staggered through for weeks ahead of him and know that he will surely die. I wanted the camera crew to fly down and turn him around towards the water that was only a few miles away but that's what the best wildlife Tv does, it takes you right into nature until you feel like a part of it.
Just superb in every way.... god bless the BBC!!!
