I remember my time in Sicily and watching the mausolea appear: marble bungalows presumably for the dead but always playing transistor radios, the tethered pedigree dog who would be left to go wild in the winter months, probably shot by farmers. Empty blocks with wild dogs and syringes scattered on the beach and fascist graffiti... It was a heritage coast. Can you imagine that happening in Barafundle Bay?
