I'm finding it hard to chose a poem to submit to a competition. I was wondering if anyone on here had any tips on how they decide what work they submit to a competition? I have tried pulling names from a hat with some of my favourites in but I'm never happy with the outcome, and feel as though I'm back where I started. ;-)

I like the idea of putting you favourite titles in a hat and picking them out at random… It reminds me of the time I decided to make all my choices by tossing a coin. I used to force myself to follow the outcome at first, but eventually… I just used it to find out what I really wanted to do. I mean that, as you say, it often turns out that when ‘luck’ makes your ‘choice’ it makes you realise that you actually prefer something different. So put your favourites in a hat and keep pulling one out until it is one you really like. The problem then is that the author’s favourites are rarely other peoples :O) Of course you go for what’s ‘written in the stars’ :O)
Thank you Mangone, I may submit one of my favourites and another which other people really like.. Hmm that should solve half of the battle. :-) Thank you for your advise. Appreciated very much. :-)
