preview and unpublish

Is it general that these facilities (preview and private publish/unpublish) are not available at present? I was told I'd have to wait until my buttons could be 'stabilised', before I got them back, but the situation seems to be continuing long, and I personally find having to publish and then edit afterwards very trying, and I easily miss things. So I'd like to know if everyone else has to publish their work this way of is it just me, please?!

(Also, it's only on editing that can I place a piece in a collection, not when first creating the piece)
