Italics

When I try to employ italics, say for a paragraph half way down the page, like so:

italics

...I often end up turning everything into italics. Why is this?

You need to close the tage. So at the end of the italicised section you need to put < /em> So if you want something in italics then (with extra spaces so the tags show as text) you need to write something like this: < em>something in italics< /em>. Clear as mud, right?
That's what I'm doing and then.. at the end And how come in my intial demo the word 'italics' came out in italics but in your demo - 'something in italics' - it did not?

Man, I can't even illistrate what I'm doing because I just turn everything I touch into italics, whIch is proof in itself that I'm doing it right, yes? And yet, when I try to highlight paragraphs I get the whole damn thing going italic on my ass.

lol Jamesdevans. thank you for making me smile. sorry your having trouble The Big Bad G, but James last comment made me laugh, I wish there were more writers like you. Hope You Sort it T,B,Bad G :) Keep Writing Keep Smiling :)

I'm sorted! I was just trying to solve what I thought the problem was for you, James. I have the same problem when using lists myself, normally because I close the list but forget to close one of the list items. It's hard to demonstrate because when you tag it correctly the site doesn't display it (that's your italic-Midas touch). The ones that are showing in my earlier post are displayed because I added spaces in deliberately (thereby breaking the tag) so you could see what I meant.
italics Okay, that's that sorted - thanks for the tip. But I'm still commiting acts of mass italicide in my posts.

Yeah, nothing works. Either my account is corrupted or there's something wrong with the settings - or I'm doing something weird which I can't be I don't think...

Naaaaah, THIS is showing off...
