Anti-War Poetry

I've recently become interested in this subject from a writer's point of view. I'd very much like to know who on ABCtales has treated it, and how.

If you have written a poem about war, any war, not necessarily one which is raging at the moment, I'm interested in reading it, or discussing it, hopefully with others.

Pat

Hi Pat, perhaps you'd like to have a look at the ones below written at various times and which reflect my attitude towards any war or conflict. Good reading. Luigi. http://www.abctales.com/node/532192 - Shell Shock http://www.abctales.com/node/554829 - A Mad, Mad World http://www.abctales.com/node/546714 - Changing Moods http://www.abctales.com/node/532183 - Crazy World

These are superb poems. I don't know if Shell Shock was supposed to recall World War One. Its wistfulness and poignancy are compelling. It's a great poem. I enjoyed the second too. There aren't many modern poets who bring to mind Homeric virtues in verse, are there? My webpage is at: http://www.bookscape.co.uk

This poem is truly shocking. The idea of writing a poem from the perspective of a nuclear strike witness is astounding. I'm not usually completely moved by reading poetry, but in this case I was. People ought to read this poem. My webpage is at: http://www.bookscape.co.uk
I'm interested in everything. I'd like to get a discussion going. I'm a bit behind myself, what with my book and all. But, please add poems, and so on. Mine's here: http://www.abctales.com/node/557646 I'll be back to chat, by and by. My webpage is at: http://www.bookscape.co.uk

I had a pro-war poem on a site call 'poems for the war' a couple of years ago. That site seems to have been taken down now, though. My poems was called 'Liberals suck' although the site made me change the title to 'Liberals stink' because the original had sexual connations. You've obviously got to be careful when there's a war on.

Hi, You didn't post a link to your poem. Have you still got a copy of it? My webpage is at: http://www.bookscape.co.uk
Here's a peace poem of mine: http://www.abctales.com/node/556651
