Reader's Comments
Funny how the mind works. The pieces that I submit for publication which I consider to be my best attempts at writing and of which I expect favourable comments never get those comments. Yet often much duller everyday stuff gets commented upon. I think that I must be seeing things differently from other people. Does anybody else see this?
To this and your other comment on the noticeboard:
I think that comment boxes are a relatively new addition to the ABC site so, no doubt, it will take quite a while before it finds its feet. Commenting is not easy and unless you are content to simply praise everything -
it is quite easy to offend people without meaning to.
The upshot of this is that many people only comment when they feel that they can say something encouraging or meaningful. If a piece is really good it might not get many comments because it’s assumed that it doesn’t need any and if its really poor people don’t want to say anything :O) Take a while to settle in and let people get to know you and I expect you will slowly get more comments.
I’m off to Thailand Tomorrow so you’ll get even less comments for a while :O)
Sometimes the harder you push the more the door sticks…
Take it easy, Brian.
Best wishes to all and farewell.
