The Brain Hospital - Tonight BBC1 9pm

The hospital I was incarcerated in last year, for what seemed like an eternity is being featured in a beeb docu tonight. It should be interesting. I don't feature in it, as far as I know, but then again, I was so out of my coconut-tree I wouldn't have noticed a camera crew even if it were swinging from the end of my bed singing bhajans.

Extract from BBC publicity: "This new observational documentary series spends a year at one of the world's leading brain hospitals.

For many patients The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London is their last hope. Their future lies in the hands of the staff who work at the cutting edge of medical science in their quest to heal the human brain. There are over one hundred consultants here who treat everything from brain haemorrhages to Parkinson's disease, chronic headaches to epilepsy. With hospital life as a back-drop, we reveal the extraordinary medical and emotional stories of the patients and the staff at The Brain Hospital"

oo..I'll have to watch that. I love following neuroscience - being a relatively young field and all. There's nothing more mind-teasing than the incomprehensible eagerly avowed - Dennett

Neuroscience being a relatively young field and all I find it exciting keeping in touch with current research. Is that any better? There's nothing more mind-teasing than the incomprehensible eagerly avowed - Dennett

Couldn't resist it. Cheers, Mark

After watching the first 30 mins of this prog I can only vaguely appreciate what you must have gone through, Jude. There's nothing more mind-teasing than the incomprehensible eagerly avowed - Dennett

They filmed my Neuroradiologist performing the same operation he did on me! He must have a set script for 'breaking the news' because he gave the same 'you might die/ be left paralysed' talk to me as he did to that guy. Difference is, I didn't start crying like a big girl's blouse and cling onto Dr Brew's hand. I shrugged and said 'que serra, serra' ... (and yes, I am showing off how hard-as-nails I am). jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net
