this is lovely. If ever I got to choose where in the world I'd like to visit, it would be those maple trees when the leaves turn, I'd love to walk under them. Your poem makes a beautiful picture to help my imagining. I love "cradle of colour"...

I'm not sure? It's the mark of a good short story to reach a conclusion but leave the reader wanting to know what happens next :0)

Thankyou for posting this! I think it's brave to be so open about everything. I'm glad the diagnosis has helped. One of the children I worked with, his Dad refused to let him be diagnosed so he didn't get all the help he could have. I'm not sure...
