I thought when I met him, that he was different and a little weird in how he behaved, but put this down to the circumstances, where he was and how he felt.

I suppose my logic was if I don't show I am hurt, you won't now I am hurt and then that will make things better. I can see the flaw in this now but for years it seemed the way to be so I was.
