I walked through the maze of streets and alleyways, trying to remember how to reach the town square. Seagulls circled above me, swooping low over my head and crying out like I was a scrap of food to be snaffled in their beaks.

Enjoyed this, Jane. Was chatting about Brum to my partner the other day. I used to have to go there quite a bit for work and never felt a love for the place, but she thinks it's great. Interesting to read your take on it.

I was thinking about this on my run this morning. Will read it over and message later. I don't think it needs much, just an extra piece of structure / link but obviously the challenge is it needs to be subtle. I like these types of writing...
