Our Disused Sodastream

from the ABC set Poems of Life and Love

We said our vows and were a brand new team
Then I was cast aside like our disused sodastream
We were so happy, like the cats that got cream
But you put me away like our disused sodastream
You said you loved me, boy, that was mean
Then no longer cool, like our disused sodastream
I was your flavour once, made your face just beam
Then the fizz was gone like our disused sodastream
Our love was fresh, held in high esteem
Then we ran out of gas like our disused sodastream
But our love came back like a gorgeous dream
So I'm back in fashion like a brand new sodastream
We were both so stupid, I could almost scream
We'd forgotten how good was our lovely sodastream.

Hi jolono,

a poem with plenty of fizz in it. I like the idea
of a relationship being described like a soda stream.

Very original.

Jenny.

Thanks Jenny, just thought I'd try something a bit different.

I remember soda streams the first time round i think ours ended up in the cupboard after a few months of use , what a cleaver way of describing a failing relationship but with a happy ending ( Get busy with the fizzy ..soda stream !!)

Thanks onangelswings, I remember the advert well. Glad you enjoyed it.

Like everyone else, we bought one, then put it away forever after just a few months.

Great concept. Enjoyed.

Thank you Pia. I wonder how many other gadgets we had in our kitchen and are now put away somewhere!

Actually, Sodastreams are making a comeback. I saw an advert for one the other day on television.

They were good but the drinks never quite tasted the same as the proper makes, did they?

Goos story

No, and you can buy real fizzy drinks so cheap, why would you go to all the bother of trying to make them yourself!

But 25 years ago, you just had to have one.

By the look of my last comment where I say Goos story it looks as if I only needed a Sodastream to make a mixer for my alcohol. Ish all liesh!

I knew exactly what you meant Moya, bit dissapointed though I thought it was so good that you had invented a new word for it!

Denzella | March 13, 2012 - 08:55

We are talking stories here, I trust!

jolono | March 13, 2012 - 09:01

Well I was, but you however.....

I enjoyed this Jolono - you've inspired me to write about my pasta maker that hides at the back of the cupboard all shiny and unhappy.

jolono | March 13, 2012 - 17:00

Cheers FB, I look forward to reading that!

I had a good cackle at this
cheers mate.

I would say though that that grey cylinder bottle inside the sodastream looked so indestructible that it could have been tossed into a volcano and survived. A bit like love's ability to endure tough times.

Glad you liked it, I had a mate who tied one onto the back of his action man and said it was an "Action Man Diver". No one beleived him!

Hilarious! Shame on the doubters. In a way it's a shame such childlike creative genius is stifled in the workplace in most companies.
