Temple Building

The energy passing through all of my cells
gives rise to me as the conscious I
yet I am not my body
but my body birthed me and sustains me.

The physical proportions of our body,
are the other side of (but still the same thing as) our mental temperaments and dispositions.
Everything physical has its corresponding mental.
This is a major underlying key to it all.

And from this garden-bed of muscle and thought
arises a supraconscious,
a Jesus, an inner-man,
that grows, develops, finds its way up and out,
and finally blooms like a flower out of the top.

It was, all along, a seed buried at the bottom.

This happens if and when the mind-matter (body) is properly organized and arranged.
If the proper conditions and temperament have been established,
by and through the work of our constituents,
the organs, cells, molecules and atoms,
and faculties, habits, and thoughts.

Correspondingly,
Our designs, our creations, our buildings, and art,
and the thinking and care we put into them,
determine the structure and temperament of the higher being(s).
They prepare the soil for the metasupraconscious.

The cement of our relationships to family and friends,
The decor of our homes, towns, and cities,
The physical and emotional health of our countrymen, neighbors, and children.
Are His mind-body.

Arising from my body, I compel my body to perform.
In performing, my body contributes to the awakening of the metasupraconscious being.
Its actions contribute to the flow of energy, ideas, and activity that stimulate and nourish His consciousness.

I am suddenly aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit all around me.

Hello again,

My goodness this is very different to the piece I wrote and you very kindly read.

You weren't quite sure about the point of my poem and I said neither was I. Your poem is very deep and I am not sure that I understand it fully but I did enjoy it. I think I have an inkling of what you are saying but I must confess I am not a poet.

Temple building is that a reference to your body and are you comparing your conscious mind to your body performing the tasks commanded by your mind. I also notice that you refer to 'His consciousness' with the H in His being a capital so I presume you are speaking of God as the metasupraconscious being I've probably got the complete wrong end of the stick here but I enjoyed having a stab at understanding it.

Hello Moya,

Thanks for reading and commenting. You're not too far off!

I tried to draw an analogy between the work our cells do, which results in giving rise to our body-mind, and "supraconsciousness" (spirit), and the work that we do that gives rise to the body-mind and "(meta)supraconsciousness" of a higher organism (our neighborhood, city, country).

The mind-body is one thing... but what lies within it, what grows and blossoms, is that little seed of divinity within. We know it is not the same thing as the body-mind because we feel the antagonism between the two constantly.

Since everything that is matter is also mind, this dynamic of the mind-body vs. spirit is present in everything that exists... just at different levels in the spectrum of consciousness. An atom has mind-body and spirit that is so far below us, that we have difficulty understanding it. Dogs clearly have mind-body... and spirit (they can control their animal instincts every now and then).

This is getting long, and still so much more to explain... that is why people write poetry, I suppose :) In the end, our mind-body is a temple built by our cells for our Spirit, and our community (buildings, people, relationships) is a temple we build for the Spirit of the community.

the original title, btw, was "why we must build beautifully"... :)
