A ROUNDABOUT WALK poem

A Roundabout Walk

Kicking around town
not the way to go
unproductive

morning’s paper a mirror
of my feelings
painting
edges on my nerves

war news a simile for my
frustrations
your smile from
a worn picture back of
wallet with lack of money.

I need that smile
helps me
rise above distractions
ragged sweater colouring my
circumstances

your photo arm reaches
opening drawers full
of memories
pointing out my
relevance on this earth.

You are a passionate rainbow
trees no longer the shade
of muddy sky
nor forest glorified in unwritten
journeys.

Hello, Beeme. My wife, Esther and I, just returned from a very hot walk. Phew. We're both not used to this heat of 30C plus humidity of another four degrees. More phews. I am so happy to have a younger generation person like yourself enjoy the works being created today by this young geezer. After all, as a senior citizen, I know many men only have energy to sit in front of the TV with a bottle of beer in their hands. I write for my enjoyment and the energy for writing these days is explosive; it's so much fun sharing. Thank you again for your generous comments. Richard LP

ps. My wife, Esther and I, recently re-jigged our one co-authored adult novel (no swearing in it, and okay for a family audience). What children read today actually makes this story--RUN, EDDIE, RUN--quiet modest. We are going to place this story on ABCTales.com, very soon, and one chapter at a time. We rather have folks read this very interesting story, than for us to chase publishers for three years. However, if a publisher would like to contact us, re publishing, then we'll consider it.

Keep sharing your work Richard, and the younger generation will read, enjoy and relate, like I can. Look forward to reading 'Run Eddie Run', soon :-)
