I never ever saw you – never looked
with wonder on your face; felt
your fingers tightly curl around mine,
nor rocked you to sleep with prayers
that God would keep you safe...
no matter what, no matter when.
I like to think, though, that I met you
in that peerless moment, on the road
leads from this world to the next;
your joyous ‘hello’ – my sad farewell;
your tears, soft on my cheek, but know
this... that once, I breathed your name.

I thought this was really lovely, Rigel... two really cracking stanzas, lovely sentiments throughout which were eloquently expressed. Much enjoyed.

Mysterious and beautifully written Rigel. Bitter-sweet and very sensual. Liked.

Thank you, Trev. Like the 'sue dinum' play on words, by the way. Very clever.

Rigel, you just get better and better. I am no poet but I like your style immensely because your poems are accessible, even to the likes of me, yet they carry a powerful idea.
Another one I really enjoyed,
Moya

You are too modest, Moya. I envy your talent of story writing, very much, but I am pleased you enjoy my modest attempts at poetry. Thank you, for taking the trouble to read and to comment so very positively.
